Three More Days Until the Best Weekend of the Year

Interesting lectures from our French and German guests, One on One with the best football coach and a spectacular party program are just a glimpse of what to expect this year in Rovinj

Zagreb, September 17th, 2018 – Only three days are left until the start of the eleventh edition of Weekend Media Festival, the biggest media and communications festival in South Eastern Europe. The festival will take place in the old tobacco factory in Rovinj from September 20th until September 23rd. This year´s Weekend Media Festival will have even more stages and formats, interesting speakers and numerous panels which will inspire over 5000 participants.

Among many interesting panels, the one that stands out is „West Wing – How to Advise the President“ panel where leading regional advisors to prime ministers and presidents will reveal the challenges they faced at their work. „It was definitely the ratification of the Istanbul convention, as well as the efforts of overturning the Agrokor deal, which, thankfully, didn´t go through. Furthermore, it was a challenge to try and influence the work flow itself and create a team that breathes as one, which is crucial for success “, revealed Krešimir Macan, former special advisor to the Prime Minister of Croatia for strategic communication.

Slovenian Stojan Pelko, former advisor to Samuel Žbogar, special EU representative to Kosovo will be joining in, as well as Suzana Vasiljević, the advisor of Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić of many years: „We spend a lot of time talking. We don´t always agree, and we tend to have really sharp exchanges, but I think that is normal and healthy. The greatest danger for a politician is surrounding himself with people who won´t or don´t dare to point out mistakes “, stated Vasiljević.

As for the exchange of opinions with the members of the Croatia national football team on and off the field, all will be revealed by our best football coach, Zlatko Dalić, who will also share some new details from Russia. A One on One interview with Dalić will be our chance to find out how he managed to bring the team to such an impressive number of wins and cast Croatia into a delirium not seen for a very long time.

A part of the eleventh edition of the festival will be dedicated to our partner countries, Germany and France. Our guests from the leading European economic superpowers will present the best they offer in advertising, media and business. Christine Amtmann and Elsa Comby will talk about ARTE, one of the digital media pioneers in culture and information, that have stepped out of their national borders.

Eric Léandri, the French security expert and founder of Qwant, will reveal how the first search engine that protects user freedom works and how it makes sure that the digital ecosystem stays healthy. Weekend Media Festival will also feature Gobelins, the leading animation school in the world. Cécile Blondel, Head of International Relations of this prestigious school will show us the secret of the success of French animation responsible for animated films such as „Despicable Me “and „Astérix“.

Along with interesting topics and discussions, we are also ready for some good fun. This year´s Weekend will open with unforgettable Oliver Dragojević hits by our music diva Zdenka Kovačiček and Marko Tolja with the legendary HRT Jazz Orchestra under the direction of Miron Hauser. On Friday, the stage will be taken over by our famous hip hoppers Sick rhyme Sayazz, and Saturday´s party, „Weekend Goes Global“ will, for the first time ever, feature international stars. The grand finale of this year´s Weekend is reserved Belgium´s own 2manydjs, who will definitely make all visitors of this Weekend dance the night away. See you in Rovinj!
